  Abstract

   This panel explores the transformative role of digital technologies in enhancing museum engagement and operations. Presenters will share innovative approaches to digital access, challenges, and opportunities in the context of museum practices during challenging times.

- NSM AR Development: Digital Access for Everyone - Anupap Sakulngam

   Anupap Sakulngam from the National Science Museum, Thailand, presents the development of the NSM AR application. This app enhances visitor interaction with exhibits through augmented reality, making scientific content more engaging and accessible. The presentation highlights how digital tools can transform traditional museum experiences and promote scientific literacy.

- Opportunities and Challenges of Digital Technology for Museums in Challenging Times Julia Kim-Davies

   Julia Kim-Davies from UNESCO Bangkok discusses the dual nature of digital technology as both an opportunity and a challenge for museums. Drawing from UNESCO’s global surveys, she examines the impact of digital tools on museum operations during crises and features case studies on virtual museums and shared heritage projects that promote cultural connections and awareness.

- A Case on Digitizing Thai Bee’s Natural Museum CollectionPakorn Nalinrachatakan

   Pakorn Nalinrachatakan from Chulalongkorn University explores the digitization of the Thai bee collection. By creating a comprehensive digital database in collaboration with the Global Biodiversity Information Facility (GBIF), this initiative facilitates global research collaboration and enhances the study of bee pollination. The presentation underscores the importance of adapting digitization processes to local environmental conditions.

  Biography

   Noppadon Kitana, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor of Biology at Chulalongkorn University (CU) and the Director of the Center of Learning Network for the Region (CLNR) CU. In this role, he facilitates CU’s regional initiatives in Nan and Saraburi provinces. From 2012 to 2020, he served as the Head of the Department of Biology at CU, where he coordinated, supervised, and managed the Chulalongkorn University Museum of Natural History. Currently, as the Director of CLNR, he oversees the activities of the Natural History Museum of Nan and the Natural Art and Asset Exhibition Hall in Saraburi province.
