  Abstract

   This panel examines strategies for engaging communities with cultural heritage to ensure its continuity and relevance. Presenters will share case studies and insights into fostering cultural awareness, ethical considerations in museum practices, and the role of community participation in heritage preservation.

- Museum Crisis on Youth and Tamansiswa in YogyakartaTri Wahyudi

   Tri Wahyudi from Esa Unggul University addresses the cultural crisis among youth in Yogyakarta, highlighting the destruction of the Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum. This presentation explores the impact of educational programs like "Museum Visit Mandatory" on raising cultural and ethical awareness among youth, and the importance of preserving national education ideology through museums.

- Authentication Strategies in Thai Museums Felix Pülm

   Felix Pülm from Silpakorn University discusses the deliberate construction of authenticity in Thai museums. His research examines various strategies used to create a sense of genuineness and relevance in visitors, including empirical, sensual, communicative, experiential, and critical authenticity. This presentation sheds light on how museums can use these strategies to engage visitors and make marginalized narratives more visible.

- Community Engagement of Museums as a Medium for Heritage Re-Connection and Community ResilienceEulalie D. Dulnuan

   Eulalie D. Dulnuan from the National Museum of the Philippines-Cordillera Regional Museum explores how museums can act as catalysts for cultural revitalization and economic empowerment through community engagement. This presentation highlights programs such as volunteer initiatives, educational tours, and skills training courses that reconnect communities to their heritage and promote resilient, tourism-related enterprises.

  Biography

   Chatri Prakitnonthakan is a distinguished Professor at the Faculty of Architecture, Silpakorn University, Bangkok, Thailand. Renowned for his extensive research in architectural history, he has a particular emphasis on the intersection of politics and architecture. His current research delves into the social history of dying, the historiography of Thai art, and the politics of conserving the historic urban landscape of old Bangkok.
