Message from Director of National Discovery Museum Institute (NDMI)

   I am delighted to welcome you to the ASEAN Museum Forum 2024, a prestigious gathering dedicated to advancing the field of museology and fostering meaningful dialogue among professionals, scholars, and cultural practitioners. Our collective efforts in fostering dialogue and collaboration are pivotal for the future of cultural preservation and community engagement.

This year's theme, "Contemporary Challenges and Innovative Practices in Museums," highlights the importance of adapting to the dynamic needs of our societies. Museums today face a range of challenges, from financial constraints and digital transformation to cultural sensitivities and legal complexities. By bringing together experts from across the region, we aim to explore strategies that enhance financial resilience, leverage digital innovation, and promote sustainable development within the museum sector.

   Our program is enriched with six keynote sessions delivered by distinguished experts, offering insights into diverse topics such as post-pandemic museum development, cultural responses to global challenges, community engagement, and the use of technology in museums. These sessions will provide a comprehensive understanding of the multifaceted roles museums play in today's world and inspire actionable strategies for our institutions.

   In addition to the keynote sessions, we have organized nine panel discussions that delve into various aspects of museum practice. From crisis management and financial strategies to digital engagement and environmental stewardship, these panels will facilitate in-depth discussions and knowledge exchange among participants. We hope that the insights gained from these sessions will empower us to navigate the challenges we face and drive forward innovative practices that ensure the continued relevance and impact of our museums.
