Presentation Title Museum Crisis on Youth and Tamansiswa in Yogyakarta
Abstract

Youth in Yogyakarta are experiencing a cultural crisis in getting to know their own culture and ethics. The incident on Sunday, 4 June 2023, in clashes between youth, which resulted in the destruction of the Dewantara Kirti Griya Yogyakarta museum, seems to be a sign of the destruction of the morals and ethics of the youth because they do not appreciate the existence of the museum and its artifacts left behind as symbols of the culture and history of the nation, especially what was damaged was the Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum, a place that contains the thoughts of the founder and father of the nation of national education in Indonesia Ki Hadjar Dewantara, where the museum contains various kinds of artifacts from the process of formation and struggle in the effort to formation of a national education ideology.

In this matter, the Yogyakarta education and culture department also pays special attention, such as consistently holding a "Wajib Kunjung Museum (Museum Visit Mandatory)" program starting from 2013 until today for all educational institutions in Yogyakarta. Does this program also have an impact on the vision and mission of the Dewantara Kirti Griya Tamansiswa museum because, with this program, the youth in Yogyakarta should grow in their sense of awareness about culture, ethics, and morals in their social environment?

This research uses a descriptive qualitative research method with a “Case Studies” approach with the hope that using this research method can reveal an in-depth study of ethical, cultural, and Tamansiswa issues regarding the Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum. The efforts and steps in using this method combine data collection methods such as archives, interviews, questionnaires, and observations, one of which is by analyzing cases of vandalism at the Dewantara Kirti Griya Museum in Yogyakarta.
